Description Gerion 2014-07-20 11:49:19 UTC
Since a few weeks the Flickr picture of the day wallpaper does not update any more. It is probably related to the change of the Flickr API to ssl-only. At least, the time correlates.
See: http://code.flickr.net/2014/04/30/flickr-api-going-ssl-only-on-june-27th-2014/

I've got the same problem.
Only the astrology option works.

Yes, https is required. I add onl the letter "s" to http and then potd flickr works again. Please please please change this. For my wife is this very important. She need the beautiful pictures.

Comment 9 Markus Heidelberg 2015-06-05 10:15:14 UTC
These patches have been built and tested on branch KDE/4.14
Out of the six picture providers only Astronomy and Earth Science worked. Three (among them Flickr) have been fixed, Wikimedia disabled.
Comment 10 Kai Uwe Broulik 2015-06-05 11:23:34 UTC
Thanks for your effort!
Please head to https://git.reviewboard.kde.org/r/ and put your patches on review for other developers. Patches on the bug tracker tend to become forgotten.
Comment 11 Markus Heidelberg 2015-06-06 15:53:30 UTC
My account does not work at the Review Board and there is no way to register.
But I guess there should be a maintainer taking care of at least submitted patches in the bugtracker.
Comment 12 Juraj 2015-07-30 12:10:37 UTC
This is still not fixed on OpenSUSE 13.2, KDE 4.14.9. I see the patches here but I am not able to install them myself because I am no expert. I would very much appreciate it if that would be fixed in a following update, because the problem seems to be solved.
Comment 13 Markus Heidelberg 2015-10-08 08:31:20 UTC
It is really frustrating to see my patches being ignored. Is this the way to encourage contributions?

In the meantime, Flickr stopped to work, I noticed it this week.
See this request:

https://api.flickr.com/services/rest/?api_key=a902f4e74cf1e7bce231742d8ffb46b4&method=flickr.interestingness.getList&date=

with this response:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" ?>
<rsp stat="fail">
	<err code="100" msg="Invalid API Key (Key has expired)" />
</rsp>

I'm very sorry that you had a bad experience here, Markus. KDE has now moved to phabricator.kde.org, and I hope you're able to log into that. If not, please let send an email to sysadmin@kde.org and you can expect a reply very quickly.

Meanwhile, this bug was fixed quite a while ago with https://cgit.kde.org/kdeplasma-addons.git/commit/?id=30c8cd5bb57dab0e4d49dc76354f912aef02fc7e

The other providers were also fixed in other commits.
