While shortcuts to web-pages indeed a main use-case for *.desktop files stored throughout the file-system, why re-inventing a bicycle, who forbids you to associate them with ‘kioclient open’? It's duplicated bug, that was reported https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=337407 Read comment by Jan Lepper, his krusader-next branch was fixed this bug.
