Thanks for the bug report! The freeze is probably to due a problem in Solid, but the crash is a Dolphin bug. The problem is that we create a menu on the stack, which causes trouble if the application is closed inside the nested event loop of the menu. Similar to bug 293863 and others. Can also be fixed in the same way (allocate the menu on the heap, and protect any access to it after the nested event loop execution with a QPointer if needed). I'll look into it! Steps to reproduce: 1. Make sure that only one Dolphin window is open. 2. In a Konsole, type sleep 5; qdbus `qdbus | grep dolphin` /dolphin/Dolphin_1/actions/file_quit trigger 3. Right-click an item or the empty space in the Places Panel, such that a context menu is opened. 4. Wait until the window is closed, and the crash dialog appears. Hi, I did that but no crash dialog appears few 5 minutes... Created attachment 87705 [details] Patch to fix the crash This patch fixes the crash for me, but as with the related patch https://git.reviewboard.kde.org/r/114440/ , there is still another problem. QGraphicsScene/QGraphicsView do not like it if they are deleted inside their own mousePressEvent() function. This does not necessarily lead to a new crash, but we do get warnings from Valgrind. Hey,
as this is still marked as "confirmed" and not "fixed", can someone please check if attached log does point to the same bug or if it is something else?
dolphin 17.12.3 - Kubuntu 18.04 - freezing indefinitely when (or after) data is moved across folders on a 3TB NTFS formatted USB disk. Moves on the disk containing (encrypted) / are fine.
