Sentry Crash Report:

Description Chris Jones 2014-07-08 06:47:39 UTC
Animated brushes using the Random feature frequently repeat the same brush image in succession. This creates a stuttering pattern. It would make for more natural, realistic looking brushes if images were never (or at least infrequently) repeated alongside one another, eg 121323123232132 as opposed to 2213222211111333 etc.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Select, or create a new animated brush with 3 or more images
2. Set Selection Mode to Random
3. Draw a long stroke

Actual Results:
The line reveals a lot of artificial looking repetitions.

Expected Results:
A random looking line with little discernable repetition

This would be a useful additional option, of not a replacement for the current random feature.

Same here on Xubuntu 15.04, i usually make a second brush to see if i checked random when creating the first one, and it behaves equally, doing that apparence of repetitiveness

Timitimo fixed the random engine for 3.0 pre-alpha.
