The http://wiki.apertium.org/wiki/Apertium_web_service should provide valuable machine translation suggestions for the released language pairs, among which several Spanish languages which seem active enough e.g. on http://userbase.kde.org/Special:LanguageStats

At translatewiki.net we don't use it because we have too much translation traffic, but it will probably be ok for you. To enable, it should be enough to get a free key at http://api.apertium.org/register.jsp and set $wgTranslateTranslationServices['Apertium']['key'] = '$KEY'; in your config (https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Help:Extension:Translate/Configuration ).

Reproducible: Always

What is the license of the machine translaion suggestions that api provides?
Comment 2 Nemo 2014-05-30 14:46:37 UTC
Apertium is free software; the service claims no copyright over the translations. http://wiki.apertium.org/wiki/Apertium_web_service_ToS

I'm not sure that answer my questions but anyway if you have a sysadmin request like this you should probably contact the sysadmin people http://sysadmin.kde.org/tickets/

Created attachment 87254 [details]
wget -q -O - "http://apy.projectjj.com/listPairs"

Update: I'm told you can instead use the instance at apy.projectjj.com, which requires no keys either. To verify that it's alive, try wget -q -O - "http://apy.projectjj.com/listPairs"

As for sysadmins, thanks, but I never used that before; I feel the most active wiki users should forward sysadmins the request if felt useful.

Recommending to close this issue and reassign to sysadmin
