I have two connections in my apartment Michaels Manor and Michaels Manor 1, both have the same password, "MM1" signal strength is about 22% "MM" signal strength is about 60%. I often cannot connect to "MM" it will prompt me over and over for the network password I reenter and reenter but nothing. So I connect to "MM1" a weaker signal same password. Eventually I will connect to the stronger signal after all day on the other one. Here is a syslog of what happens. BEFORE being able to connect to MM - http://ur1.ca/hgw9u AFTER connecting to MM - http://ur1.ca/hgx3g Maybe it will help? Which Plasma NM version do you use? This is very important because Plasma NM 0.9.0.x is completely different from Plasma NM 0.9.8.x. I need to know which code base you are using. For Plasma NM 0.9.0.x you can check the version by clicking on the "Manage Connections" button in the plamoid and then on the "Other" tab. If you do not see any "Manage Connections" button then you are probably using Plasma NM 0.9.8.x and then you need to click on the settings button on the uppoer right corner of the plasmoid, when the Connection's window appears you go to Help menu entry then in "About Connection Editor" entry. Anyway, if both your connections are marked as auto-connect then there is nothing we can do from here. NetworkManager does not implement connection priorities yet. In that case you should mark only the stronger connection as auto-connect and leave the other one as manual-connect. Are you sure the passwor for MM is correct? The line below in your log usually indicates the password is incorrect: Jun 6 14:49:56 localhost wpa_supplicant[1122]: wlan0: WPA: 4-Way Handshake failed - pre-shared key may be incorrect By the way, what is your wifi card manufacturer, model and driver version? Kernel version can also help. This problema can be caused by unstable driver too. I have had this issue with a Netgear WNDA3100 USB wireless card using proprietary drivers with ndiswrapper. It seems to be related to WPA/WPA2 encryption. This is most likely an upstream bug with the driver, ndiswrapper or wpa_supplicant as my issue did not involve the Network Management applet. Yes the passphrase is correct I dont know why it does this. COMP_A = Wifes Chromebook COMP_B = My Kubuntu DEV_A = MobilePhone COMP_A will connect to MM and stay connected until Jesus returns no drops in connection, no drop in signal ever that is noticed. COMP_B will connect initially to MM will not stay connected not matter how much I threaten it. it will also connect to MM2 Passphrase is always the same for both networks every day, every night it never changes. DEV_A will connect to MM and stay connected until Jesus returns no drops in connection, no drop in signal ever that is noticed. I do not know what the issue is, I even reinstalled Kubuntu recently it connects during the install process and pulls updates as I go, two days later it will not connect to MM ever again Hello! Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but this project has been unmaintained for many years and I will be closing this bug. Please test again with the latest version and file a new bug in plasma-nm. Thank you! |
