Comments that need formatting with a monospaced font are rare, so it should not be the default. Proportional text is much easier to read. I agree the default should not be changed. Martin, are you asking to change this for all the content of comments, or only optionally? Two things: 1) I believe it would be best if Bugzilla supported some kind of markdown like syntax to mark snippets of command line output and so on. 2) This Firefox 68.0.2 renders comments in this bug with a mono spaced font already. So the atop output from the bug text from 2015-05-15 is perfectly readable here. Thank you Martin, Comments are indeed in pre elements, and their bz_comment_text class brings CSS font-family: monospace. However, looking at https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1518264 it seems that Bugzilla may be heading to a proportional font by default. However, the change behind that appears to be a move to Markdown (for new comments only), and Markdown still allows monospace fragments. Moreover, the change appears to be in the bmo project, not in Bugzilla itself, so this may never end up here. Therefore, I am marking this as resolved. If you are concerned that text may become proportional, please retitle to something like "please keep displaying comments with fixed width font" when reopening. Fine with me Filipus. Thank you. |
