Platform: Kubuntu Trusty (64bit)
KMix always has the Event Sounds dial set to maximum volume and also plays them at maximum volume. Moving it to any other value holds exactly as the next event sound occurs, which is again played at maximum value. After this, the volume dial is again set to max.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open KMix
2. Check event sounds volume. It is at maximum
3. Move it to, say, 50% 
4. Next event sound will be again played at maximum level and the volume dial in kmix is at maximum

I can confirm this on my systems as well.  Very annoying behavior.

This seems to be duplicate of bug 324975.  There's a workaround found by @jmdkde (https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=324975#c47), where the volume can be "manually" set.

"flat-volumes = no" is already set, so this is not a workaround in this case.

Pretty irritating. Seems to happen on any kind of notification, on my Debian/Jessie, KDE 4.14.1
