Example of insert text
This feature is really needed.
It needs somebody to sit down and actually do it. If you really really need the feature you may want to consider gathering funds to hire somebody for the job. That's not as difficult as it may seem. In the open source community one may also express his support for a feature so that the developer can prioritize what features to implement also based on the requests of the user. If I have to pay someone for every feature missing or bug in KDE I'll be bankrupt by now, given that there are, normally, thousands of those. Where I can fix the bugs myself or implement the feature myself I do it, where I can't I'll try to help by providing feedback on the bugs or sometimes express my desire to see a feature implemented as in this case. Certainly would be nice to have. I don't see why it is urgent though, because you could also use underline or highlighting annotations as a workaround. Simone: Could you detail why you "really need" this? Is this about the visual representation? Do you want to see those as a separate category in the Reviews sidebar? Is Okular failing to show text insertions from Adobe Reader? Other reasons? (Nevertheless, I think attaching the screenshot added value to the bug, thanks.) Thanks for the suggestion. Actually I never thought of using the underline or highlight associated popup notes for this task. Still, I think that, especially when the document is shared with other users (e.g. windows users), the fact that there is not a specific visual representation of the deletion and addition of text can be confusing and not intuitive. A possible scheme for the workaround can be: - Red underline means deletion - Yellow highlight between two words means addition - The two previous combined means replacement (this requires to switch between the two tools to perform a single operation). I would need to communicate this scheme to all the people I share the pdf with, which may be inconvenient. *** Bug 376459 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. *** (In reply to Simone Gaiarin from comment #5) > - Red underline means deletion N.B.: You can configure available annotations in Okular (Settings->Configure Okular->Annotations). Deletion should be available (add a 'Text markup' annotation tool with Type 'Strike out'). I would be also interested to have these features, that are available in professional pdf editing softwares. It is very useful when you want to comment on a pdf. |
