Looks like Gwenview (default .eps reader on most kde installs) renders .eps files as images. They look very rough and most of the time unusable.
Just like Okular when you use the KDE image libraries instead of the GhostScript backend.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Generate .eps
2. Open .eps with Gwenview
3. Compare with .eps opened with Okular (GhostScript backend)
