Description Paul Lipps 2014-03-07 02:16:15 UTC
I would like to request the ability to display inline media in chat windows.

This means when someone pastes a URL to a picture, the URL and a small preview of the picture itself is displayed in the chat window. When a link to YouTube is posted, a small preview size of the movie is actually displayed or just a thumbnail of the display frame. If a URL to a sound file is pasted, a play button is displayed, etc. This feature should most likely default to disabled.

Textual, an IRC client for OS X has this feature and also has some basic security features with it. Such as you can set a limit to the maximum file size it will attempt to display, scale images to x pixels wide, do not display images with a height greater than x, etc.

Reproducible: Always
