Installation could not succeed due many reasons.
Software it self nor error files "document" why it do not work.
Some reasons:
-can not connet DB's
-dose not have right's  ( by the way, digikam requires too much rights at installation!!! )
-can not lock *.db ( if useing NFS disk and it trye to create sql.db there!! )
-Read/Write rights
-plugins, depencyes

Error messages should state directory, file and reason!

Which messages, in which conditions (remote or local), with which database type, etc...

New digiKam 4.11.0 is available with official PKG installer for OSX.

Clear debug messages are displayed on console. Use gdb backtrace to identify the exact issue.

Try latest digiKam 5.0.0 version. If you think the report is still valid, feel free to re-open.
