It would be nice, if filtering by category would be possible

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
Having contacts in folders is possible, but using owncloud, the category is only displayed in the edit contact form.

You want a column with category ?

Yes, would be one solution. I'm having my contacts on owncloud and using categories there (same categories as for events).

Another solution would be to set category as a sub item of the folders:

Addressbook 
 - Folder One
 - - Category A
 - - Category C
 - Folder Two
 - - Category A
 - - Category B
###################
