Detail of Dolphin "find" not finding known file.
Detail image of Device Manager bug

Description Scorch 2014-01-09 01:04:22 UTC
Connect either a Kodak "Easyshare C1550" or a Cannon "PowerShot A1400" to USB and system appears to mount, menu pops up that says "available devices, camera, three options"
#1 Download photos with Gwenview. #2 Download photos with digiKam. #3 Open with dolphin.

The problem is-
#1 Gwenview "importer" does open but does not show the contents of either camera.
#2 Digikam has been uninstalled so don't know why this option is still offered and does nothing when selected. (Possible bug with "available devices" or software uninstallation.)
#3 Dolphin opens but does not display any camera directories or files.

Only able to work with cameras by removing SD card and exploring SD card seperately from camera. . .

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Plug either camera into USB.
2. Attempt to browse contents on either camera.
3. Not able to find contents of either camera in dolphin.

Kubuntu 13.10
QT 4.11.3
Kernel 3.11.0-15-generic
64 bit.
Dell Inspiron.

Can you post the USB ids of these two cameras?

Also, are the device permissions correct?

lsusb
Bus XXX Device YYY .... Canon ...

then
ls -l /dev/bus/usb/XXX/YYY (with XXX and YYY) from above
getfacl /dev/bus/usb/XXX/YYY

To the best of my knowledge, which is very limited with regards to the specifics of this operating system, the permissions have not been changed and I expect digital cameras to be managable in the file manager as "plug and play".

And not sure of the images I provided are any help.
You may have to provide more specific instructions, to walk me through it, if you are looking for something more specific.

Also: Dolphin file manager "Find feature" completely fails to find files known to be on the system and ALL search options are greyed out. Do you know anything about this bug?
Dolphin is set to show all files, including hidden files, but fails to find known files. . .

Detail of Dolphin "find" not finding known file.

Dolphin "Find" not finding files known to be on the system even though dolphin is set to view all files including hidden files. Also find "options" are greyed and not able to change them.

This may be related to dolphin not finding or exploring camera files.
