sorry, crashes in X - you have to report to X's bugtracker.

99.9% broken driver installation, check xorg.0.log for errors/warnings in this regard and whether the expected (nvidia or fglrx?) driver is loaded.
Also for the binary blobs make sure you use a version that supports your HW.
