in that case you are wrong. I know that the feature broke when I ported it to QML and I didn't spend time on it, because there was no theme which made use of it. Given that I concluded that it was a nice idea, but is not used.
Due to changes in the QML implementation between 4.11 and master, this won't be fixed in 4.11. Whether I spent time on it for the master branch I do not know yet.
I would like to express my support/vote for this to be implemented. With today's widescreen monitors, vertical screen real-estate is at a premium, many apps pile on additional layers (like a web browser: menus, tabs, search-bar, etc). I've spent my whole day trying to find a window manager that supports a "titlebar on the left", and was elated to find even the (know known to be broken) titlebarPosition mechanics, and after *NEARLY* giving up (after far too many hours tracing through the unfamiliar kwin source code) I was elated to find the DecoratorPosition attribute (which does not share the 'title bar' identifier), frustrated at my inability to locate a theme that uses it, at own experimentation of it being broken (in fact, a bit worse than FabiB reports), and ultimately found my way to this bug entry (as I came here to file such a ticket myself). Much thanks to Martin's specificity, that I can now, at least, track down an old (or specialized) distro to test this interface design with a precise version number (<=4.10)! I also appreciate (having actually *LOOKED* at the source code), that this support has not been ripped out. I didn't want to silently pass by this ticket, because if everyone does, there would be no feedback/demand for this feature. If I might make a minor request... please replace the TODO questioning the removal of this feature: * kwin/abstract_client.cpp @ 565 * https://github.com/KDE/kwin/blob/5b4eb80c8fdb6ea72c6046389578421b00824c6f/abstract_client.cpp#L565 ...with a link to this ticket. That would have saved me so much time! This issue report is quite old. Can you please confirm, that it still persists with KDE 5.23?
