Description Yuri 2013-12-07 22:28:51 UTC
I have several sound cards, some of which provide more than one device:
pcm0: <AudioPCI ES1370> port 0xec00-0xec3f irq 16 at device 0.0 on pci8
pcm0: <Playback: DAC1,DAC2 / Record: ADC>
pcm1: <NVIDIA (0x001c) (HDMI/DP 8ch)> at nid 4 on hdaa0
pcm2: <NVIDIA (0x001c) (HDMI/DP 8ch)> at nid 5 on hdaa0
pcm3: <Realtek ALC1200 (Rear Analog 7.1/2.0)> at nid 20,22,21,23 and 24,26 on hdaa1
pcm4: <Realtek ALC1200 (Front Analog)> at nid 27 and 25 on hdaa1
pcm5: <Realtek ALC1200 (Rear Digital)> at nid 30 on hdaa1
pcm6: <Realtek ALC1200 (Onboard Digital)> at nid 17 on hdaa1

KMix shows them without any identifying names, see attached screenshot.
This makes it very difficult to change volume.

kmix-4.10.5
FreeBSD-9.2 (sound is OSS (dsp devices))

Reproducible: Always

Patch fixing the issue on FreeBSD

Patch adds the ability to OSS backend to supply the audio device names, so they appear in the mixer window next to corresponding sliders.
