Unicode codepoints beyond U+FFFF can not be found in kcharselect. Searching for “WINKING FACE” or “U+1F609” does not find the character. Kcharselects search does not even support input of „U+“-notations with more then 4 hex-numbers.
This is unfortunate, because there are Fonts on a typical Linux-system that have these glyphs, p.e. DejaVu, …
