and there is no possibility to refresh the thumbnails (like F5)

digiKam 7.0.0 stable release is now published:

In the new Showfoto 7.4.0, a new Folder View is available in left sidebar where local disk contents can be displayed, including changes.

The Stack View and the Thumb-bar do not follow local disk changes.
