It might be a problem in NetworkManager itself, because you have the first version of NM 0.9.8 in Kubuntu and I remember there were a lot of issues. I'll try to reproduce your issue so we can be sure where is the problem. What version of NM do you have? This almost certainly sounds like a NM bug... I get from the help Connection editor Version 0.9.3.0 Using KDE Development Platform 4.11.2 and Using NM version: 0.9.8.0 this was on a fresh install of Kubuntu 13-10 I still have 13-04 as dual boot and this does not occur there. This also occurs on simply disconnecting the network cable power fails are a normal occurrence here and it is a major annoyance rather than a show stopper. Thank you Eric Lukáš, does comment #3 provide the requested information? Please set the bug status. I still think the problem is in NetworkManager, because we probably don't get some signal from NM properly and it causes your problem. The reason why it works in Kubuntu 13.04 is that there is previous version of NetworkManager. I have upgraded to KDE 4.12 and the operation has changed slightly. When the system connects again and the connection 1 is selected only connect is available. If connect is selected the network disconnects and reconnect and then when wired connection is 1 is selected the graph et all is as it should be. look like a bit of synchronization between the actual network status and the applet somewhere is lost. So with an additional connect all is well. Is this problem still reproducible with the latest version of plasma-nm? Kubuntu 13.10 has quite old version of plasma-nm and NetworkManager, so would be great to test that with Kubuntu 14.04. I guess it's fixed either in Kubuntu 14.04 due to newer NetworkManager and plasma-nm or in development version of plasma-nm, where we have rewritten this functionality. Please reopen this bugreport if you are still able to reproduce this issue with Kubuntu 14.04. |
