Description Kai Uwe Broulik 2013-10-21 12:10:17 UTC
On Windows 8, using KDE SC 4.10.2, when I try to add an item to the Places panel by dragging a folder onto it, I get an error:
Saving bookmarks to C:/Users/broulik/.local/share/user-places.xbel not possible. The error was:
Error renaming the file.. This message will only be shown once and the cause should be solved immediately. Perhaps hard drive is full.

Reproducible: Always

This message is from KBookmarkManager from kio.

I'm not going to reassign though because the version you mention (4.10.2) is apparently not supported in bugs.kde.org any more. Please reopen and reassign to KIO if you can reproduce in more recent versions (and ideally, you can help with debugging this - if you don't, then the chance that this will ever get fixed might not be extremely large).

There are no newer versions of KDE SC available for Windows.

Then you might want to discuss this with the KDE-Windows people, maybe they can provide support for that version.

In any case, I don't see anything in Dolphin that that is related to this user-places.xbel file, so I don't think that it's a Dolphin bug.

Re-assigning to kfile/kplaces
Comment 5 Kai Uwe Broulik 2013-11-19 11:21:51 UTC
It sort of works, but often it fails when adding items or doing more complex things, such as renaming items and giving them a different icon.

Is this still an issue with KDE Frameworks 5.47 and Dolphin 18.04.x?
