Description Hal Ebi 2013-10-19 06:06:38 UTC
I am using a gateway to log in to my remote machines. When I use Konsole the tab name only shows the gateway name not the real remote server name. This is a problem for me as I am using multiple tabs which belong to logins via the gateway to different servers. As in this case I can only see the gateway name on all the tabs I cannot distinguish between these based on the actual server name I am connected to. Also the tab does not show the username, not even on the gateway computer. An example with my current "Profile Settings" for "Remote Tabs" [i.e. (%u)@%H] is:

I am logged on to myserver.example through gateway.example.
The tab in this case named like:
()@gateway.example
instead the one I would like to see:
username@myserver.example

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. open konsole
2. log-in to gateway
3. log-in from gateway to remote server: tab name still shows gateway name
Actual Results:
After logging in to the gateway server the tab name changes to show gateway server-name, but it does not show the username. When I log-in to my actual work server the tab name still shows the gateway server-name without username.

Expected Results:
I assumed that the tab name should reflect the actual work server I am logged in to.

Yes, this has been asked for before.

THe current way Konsole figures out this info is looking under /proc - another way would be needed for this to work

local -> gateway -> remote
