- What I was doing when the application crashed:

I upgraded KDE on an x86 Gentoo netbook from 4.10.5 to 4.11.0. Afterwards I rebooted the machine and logged in with kdm. The desktop showed up and then soon went black again. Rinse and repeat. I have a very similar, but not identical setup on an amd64 desktop, such as random desktop wallpaper from a specific directory, and a certain collection of plasmoids in the panel. On that one the upgrade went smoothly (albeit Akonadi is on the fritz again).

The crash can be reproduced every time.
