KDE platform version 4.11.00

I updated KDE to this version on 8-19-13.  When I rebooted plasma crashed.  Now plasma works fine so long as I do not add an application to the quicklaunch widget.  The crash will always occur whenever it is time for an icon other than dolphin or Konqueror to be displayed in the quicklaunch area of the toolbar.  For example:  If I add the Konsole app to the quicklaunch, Plasma will crash when I close the Konsole.  Then it will crash when I log in again.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Add quicklaunch widget
2.select "Show a Launcher When Not Running" for any program
3.Close that program
Actual Results:  
KDE bugtracker reports that plasma has suddenly terminated.  Wallpaper goes black and taskbar disappears
