Can you name the KDE applications that are affected by this bug? From what I see, each application individually remembers on which screen it was closed. The only ones I can remember for sure are konsole and firefox. Normally, when I shut down, I close everything on the higher desktops (2, 3, ...), but on desktop 1 I have konsole windows open and firefox running minimized. I leave firefox minimized so that after reboot it will detect that it aborted and restore all my regular tabs, and I issue the "systemctl reboot" from konsole. This happens for sure on my laptop, but I reboot my desktop machine infrequently enough that I can't recall whether it happens there or not. So this may be the result of some configuration difference. Regarding Konsole windows, do you have them opened on multiple desktops? Konsole is actually a single process application, so if you have them on multiple desktops, it probably restores to where its last window was opened. For the Firefox issue, please report it to Firefox developers. If you're talking about opening multiple independent instances of konsole, yes, I do often have konsole instances open on multiple desktops. If you're talking about opening one instance of konsole and flagging it to appear on multiple desktops, I've never done that. > > For the Firefox issue, please report it to Firefox developers. I'll hold off until it's clear what konsole is doing. It's suspicious that two (or more) apps should be exhibiting the same behavior if there isn't a common thread. However, it may well be that FF doesn't care which desktop it restarts on, and ends up on desktop 2 just because konsole has made 2 the current desktop by starting there. I'll try to do some tests to dig into both of these. Can you please confirm this is still an issue on current KDE Plasma and Konsole. Dear Bug Submitter, This bug has been in NEEDSINFO status with no change for at least 15 days. Please provide the requested information as soon as possible and set the bug status as REPORTED. Due to regular bug tracker maintenance, if the bug is still in NEEDSINFO status with no change in 30 days the bug will be closed as RESOLVED > WORKSFORME due to lack of needed information. For more information about our bug triaging procedures please read the wiki located here: https://community.kde.org/Guidelines_and_HOWTOs/Bug_triaging If you have already provided the requested information, please mark the bug as REPORTED so that the KDE team knows that the bug is ready to be confirmed. Thank you for helping us make KDE software even better for everyone! I had forgotten all about this. These days, what I describe here doesn't happen. In almost all cases, konsole windows open where they should. VERY infrequently after a rough shutdown of Plasma the restart will dump every open window onto desktop 1, but after a reboot it's back to normal. I'll close this as FIXED. |
