Description piedro 2013-07-29 14:16:24 UTC
For some reason kmail again couldn't dend some smtp mail - so I got the message in the system notification area and when previewing the mail that couldn't be send in my outbox, - there is a error message in red.

This error message shows the smtp password in plain text on screen - this cannot be the desired behaviour.

It's probably a very easy fix - just change the error message.

thx for reading,
piedro

Reproducible: Always

What is the exact error message (without password)
I need to grep it to find where is it.
Comment 2 piedro 2013-07-29 16:35:30 UTC
Changed the application language to enlgish but unfortunately the message comes up in german:

"Fehler beim Übertragen der Nachricht. smtp://username%40domain.de:PASSWORD@:25/send?headers=0&from=username%domain.de&to=username%40domain.de&size=3485"

(Probably: "Error while sending message. smtp://...")
- this it sits in red letters on top of the message.

Thx for looking into this,
cheers,
piedro

I find where there is ""Fehler beim Übertragen der Nachricht"
but do you know how to reproduce it ?
smtp broken ?
config broken ?
etc.

My smtp authentificaion failed and this was added to the mail header (i guess)
as the mail is viewed in the outbox (click on the mail that stalled in thoutbox and you can see in the mail view pane ...)

The problem is: what is the problem ?
How I can reproduce it ?

Needs infos...
Comment 7 piedro 2013-08-09 06:46:22 UTC
hello Laurel, I would love to give you more info but I can't ...

there is not more to it:
Everytime mail isn't sent (when smtp authentificatien fails - the reason doesn't matter) kmail shows this message (see above in comment 2) in red letters above the actual mail.

the problem is that this message shows a cleartext password which is insecure and undesirable ...

What else do you need? I am glad to provide but I don't see what information you are missing - it happens when "smtp authentification fails"

"the problem is that this message shows a cleartext password which is insecure and undesirable ..." I know but if I can't reproduce bug I can't verify if pb is where I think :)
