One of the big problems sometimes with build breakage is that there is no good way to pass information to affected users of changes in the source code repositories.

It would be beneficial to kdesrc-build users (and obviously, possibly others) if there were a way to feed news to users from the source repository directly, and have kdesrc-build display relevant items to a user (presumably at the end of a build, or with a special command-line flag to actually read the news in).

Once this is available the Release Team and other developers would be commit to a "scm-news" repository and kdesrc-build (and any other script that supports) would then show that news to the user.

What we'd need to think up is what features would be needed (e.g. limiting a news topic to a given repository or set of repositories), what formatting would be used (if any), etc.

The idea of informing users is good. Unfortunately, we got no a good solution for this in all these years.
The best I can think of currently, that is already used actually, is announcing in matrix channel, and in discuss forum.
