All video files are currently ready-only about metadata. We have a student who work on video files Metadata writing support this year through GSoC 2013, on Exiv2 project. Look here for details : http://community.kde.org/Digikam/GSoC2013#Video_Metadata_Write_support_for_Exiv2 For the moment, the best way for you is to enable XMP sidecar support in digiKam.
