Sentry Crash Report:
Attachments: seg fault after attempt to add systray applet to task bar.

Description Alain Dumont 2013-07-11 18:25:49 UTC
Hello,
KDE-4.10.5 starts and show an empty screen (only wallpaper) and an empty task bar.
There is no systray. When i try to add systray applet to task bar, screen blinks and i have a kdeinit4 seg fault (see attached).
I can launch any apps with Alt-F2 and they work fine.
Tests was made from a new fresh user.
Thank you.

Do you use a self-compiled Qt? If yes, could you compile with debugging enabled, and when reproducing the crash, add an updated backtrace?

Thank you for quick answer. Yes, i am using a self-compiled Qt.
I have rebuild qt-4.8.4 with debug mode enabled, and now kde works fine without the bug, so i have no new backtrace to give you.
If i compile again Qt with release mode enabled, the bug comes back.
My previous kde-4.9.5 works fine with Qt in release mode.

I am using gcc-4.5.1 and glibc-2.12.1

I have build a new compiler today (gcc-4.7.2) and build Qt in release mode with this new compiler.
No bug any more, kde-4.10.5 works fine now.
Thank you for your help, your suspicion on Qt was helpfull for me.

close since the reporter now can't reproduce the crash and provide the backtrace.
