Sentry Crash Report:

Description Jan Kundrát 2013-06-19 12:25:02 UTC
Current status:

- an experimental patch by Thomas Lübking exists (see the kde:clones/trojita/jkt/trojita-multiaccounts repo)
- the patch needs further integration work
- the GUI support is missing altogether

Patches welcome.

There's some ongoing work at http://quickgit.kde.org/?p=clones%2Ftrojita%2Fjkt%2Ftrojita-multiaccounts.git . The branches need further rebasing. I suspect that while multiaccounts-4 is the most up-to-date one, it's also incomplete.

The change to a common ImapAccess class will likely make the adaptation easier, though. I believe that what needs to be done is:

- testing the proxy model that Thomas wrote
- employing that proxy model, i.e. pluggin it "behind" the views in the GUI
- implementing GUI changes in the settings dialog so that it can control more accounts
- find corner cases, like the drga-and-drop code only assuming a single server, etc

As a partial workaround, Trojita has the --profile command-line option. It's been available since v0.4.

It's only partial though because it doesn't allow one to move or copy emails from one account to another.

This is a very important gap in Trojitá. It would be very nice to get multiple accounts implemented.
Comment 8 Ben Bullard 2018-10-10 21:55:31 UTC
Yes, I don't quite understand why anyone needs an e-mail client for one e-mail account anyway.

But the argument around here is whether I'm old fashioned or just old...

Anyway I would very much like to see Trojita with ability to do multiple e-mail accounts.

Perhaps I can help with testing?

It would be really great to have multiple accounts on trojita. It's the only thing i am missing.
I do not mind helping with testing it.
Keep the good you are doing.

Not that this concerns me anymore, since I switched to another client, but since when is this specific to Archlinux?
Comment 11 Stuart Longland 2021-09-12 00:53:56 UTC
Is there an up-to-date branch that can be tried out? Earlier comments are from 2014 suggesting there was a branch that was incomplete then.

My situation: I have effectively three email accounts. My home email account is on Dovecot IMAP, but my workplace has decided to adopt Office365 (not my decision, looking forward to no work email when it stops working on Feb29 each leap year), which despite IMAP namespaces being a Microsoft creation, instead uses whole separate accounts to represent shared mail directories.

That means that I need to be able to log in to Office365 as both me@example.com, and as me\mailbox@example.com; simultaneously. --profile isn't workable as the whole point of a shared mail box is that you can move emails in and out of it from your own personal account.

Having experimented with Trojitá it's looking promising, but I'm having to put up with Claws mail in the interim due to this bug.

(Changing platform as this is not specific to ArchLinux… I've got the same problem on both Gentoo and Debian.)
Comment 13 Lemuel Simon 2022-04-16 12:44:08 UTC
I would like to see this feature as well. KDE desperately lacks a dead-simple email client that 'just works'. KMail has been a buggy mess for years. Multi-account support is a killer feature to have!
Comment 14 Christoph Cullmann 2024-09-23 18:49:11 UTC
Trojitá is no longer maintained, please switch to a maintained alternative like https://apps.kde.org/kmail2/

Sorry for the inconveniences.
