Description BryanFRitt 2013-06-05 21:44:33 UTC
Konqueror moves stuff to /tmp instead of just deleting the files off of external harddrives.

Konqueror puts stuff in /tmp as konquerorLLNNNN.tmp folders where LL is two letter characters, and NNNN is four digit characters, instead of just deleting the files

It also seams to be copying other files from this drive into this directory, as well.

Can't reproduce. At least not with the "delete" operation.
Comment 2 BryanFRitt 2013-06-09 10:34:54 UTC
[correction?: I'm finding them in /tmp/kde-$USER/konquerorLLNNNN.tmp instead of just /tmp/...]

When I seleted delete, the /tmp/ folder got really big and the deletion took a long time, while I was waiting for the file to delete the /tmp got much larger, and I found my files in there.
After that I rebooted, on restart those konquerorLLNNNN.tmp folders got deleted.
(good, because with all that added trash the partition was full, it was about ~40GB that I had put in the trash, and finally desided to delete.)

Could this be something to do with viewing what's is in trash:// with Konqueror? Looking at what's in this folder now it looks like it stuff that I have in trash://

Looks like these /tmp/kde-$USER/konquerorLLNNNN.tmp gets larger every time trash:/ is examined again. Even if you let it finish, the next time konqueor is opened, and trash:/ is viewed, the /tmp/kde-$USER/konquerorLLNNNN.tmp folders getsb even larger.
This is affected by the
Konqueror->Settings->Configure Konqueror...->File Management->General->Previews options
Set it to preview items and these folders will get even larger.

These two bugs seam to be the same, I guess it happens with Dolphin too:
Hard spamming in /tmp when browsing the trash directory.
