When copying or moving email messages or folders from one folder to another within KMail, there is no indication that the copying or moving has started or what its status is.

Such progress indication could be in the status bar or in a dialog.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Select a folder or messages.
2. On the Edit menu, click Copy or Cut.
3. Select the destination folder.
4. On the Edit menu, click Paste.
Actual Results:  
The copying/moving does work upon inspection.

Expected Results:  
During the copying/moving there is no indication of whether the process has started or what the progress is.

It also fails badly, by telling you about the filename (garbled in Maildir goblegook) when it fails...Why it fails? Output says:

This bug has only been reported for versions before 4.14, which have been unsupported for at least two years now. Can anyone tell if this bug still present?

If noone confirms this bug for a Framework-based version of kmail2 (version 5.0 or later, as part of KDE Applications 15.12 or later), it gets closed in about three months.

Just as announced in my last comment, I close this bug. If you encounter it again in a recent version (at least 5.0 aka 15.08), please open a new one unless it already exists. Thank you for all your input.
