When I copy paste a file in root directory(in local database) i.e. C:\ , I have to restart amarok to view the files in local collection.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. open amarok
2. copy some files in root directory in local collection
3. Try to view in local collection.
Actual Results:  
No such files get updated. I have to restart amarok to view the files

Expected Results:  
Updated files should be displayed in local collection without restarting amarok

Did you try to update the collection? That should normally be enough to see that, and activate the option "Watch folders for change" in the settings, of course.

FWIW: you should not add music in C:\ but in a subfolder of it, Windows has a pretty creepy way of not allowing more than a certain amount of files in that folder.

I tried updating collection from tools->update collection but it didn't work. It is working for subfolders but not the main Operating system directory.

I have tried it on linux and it works fine. Folder gets updated in the root(/) directory.So it is a problem only in windows.

Yes, and as I said: you should NOT use the base level of C:\ for storing files but use folders for that.

Right, but still we should be able to cope with that without bugs.
