When using the registerScreenEdge in the declarativescript the user should be able to set the hot corner from the relevant KCM afterwards.

makes sense, but is tricky. So far the list is hardcoded and stores the settings of the effects in a hardcoded way.

Fixed in 5.9

Just add X-KWin-Border-Activate=true to your metadata file and your script will appear in the KCM.
