The official code does not contain that feature. It is a opensuse specific patch( no surprise since package management is highly distro specific), so there is no way for it to be available on ubuntu. Why got this feature request closed as invalid? Yes it is a patch by openSUSE, but it contains nothing distro-specific. (Package management is not involved because it's just about showing new .desktop files in a separate submenu) Anyway, I have extracted the patch out of openSUSE's package and put it up on reviewboard: https://git.reviewboard.kde.org/r/109611/ Maybe this can get included in KDE... @Volkan: If this patch is not accepted, you could at least ask Kubuntu to include it as well... ;-) (In reply to comment #2) > Why got this feature request closed as invalid? > > Yes it is a patch by openSUSE, but it contains nothing distro-specific. > (Package management is not involved because it's just about showing new > .desktop files in a separate submenu) > > Anyway, I have extracted the patch out of openSUSE's package and put it up > on reviewboard: > https://git.reviewboard.kde.org/r/109611/ > Maybe this can get included in KDE... > > @Volkan: > If this patch is not accepted, you could at least ask Kubuntu to include it > as well... ;-) Great Thanks! :). Let's wait and see, otherwise I will definitely ask for it :) (In reply to comment #2) > Why got this feature request closed as invalid? > > Yes it is a patch by openSUSE, but it contains nothing distro-specific. > (Package management is not involved because it's just about showing new > .desktop files in a separate submenu) > > Anyway, I have extracted the patch out of openSUSE's package and put it up > on reviewboard: > https://git.reviewboard.kde.org/r/109611/ > Maybe this can get included in KDE... > > @Volkan: > If this patch is not accepted, you could at least ask Kubuntu to include it > as well... ;-) By the way how can I try it out before it is patched? (In reply to comment #4) > By the way how can I try it out before it is patched? You have to compile kde-workspace from source. In short: - download the kde-workspace source code - download this patch (in the reviewboard link above click on "Download Diff") and apply it - compile and install it (in this case plasma/desktop/applets/kickoff would be enough) Instructions for compiling from source can be found here f.e.: http://techbase.kde.org/Development/Tutorials/Building_An_Existing_Application If you have questions regarding this, I'd suggest you ask in the KDE forums at http://forums.kde.org/ Bugzilla isn't really the right place for this... Feature is submitted and now included by default: https://git.reviewboard.kde.org/r/109611/ |
