Sentry Crash Report:

Description Matthew Woehlke 2013-03-06 06:07:09 UTC
When saving a bunch of images to disk from web pages, saving fails frequently with the error 'the process for the http://... protocol died unexpectedly'

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open a bunch of flickr photos (in tabs) in konqueror
2. For each tab, right-click the photo and choose to save it somewhere

Actual Results:
About 1/3 - 1/2 of the attempts to save the image die per the above error. Often, the same image dies twice, taking three attempts before it is saved successfully. Additionally, notifications shows a never-ending task.

Expected Results:
kio doesn't break

Not sure if it is related, but this message shows up in .xsession-errors:
Object::connect: No such slot WebPage::_k_receivedContentTypeResult(KJob*)

I've also observed this, but only when Konqueror's view mode is WebKit. With KHTML there seems to be no problem.

I got this error message several times over a few days after upgrading to Kubuntu 13.10 from 13.04. I hadn't got the error before.

This was just when going to various Web sites, not when downloading files. Reloading the page was usually successful (I think I had to try reloading one page two or three times). The problem occurred with KHTML. I've tried switching to WebKit and the problem hasn't re-occurred. There were no messages logged in .xsession-errors.

The problem has just happened once with WebKit, after quitting Konqueror and starting another session. Again, nothing was logged in .xsession-errors.
Comment 4 Graeme Hewson 2013-12-06 21:34:46 UTC
Problem is still present in 4.11.97 (4.12 Release Candidate).

KDEWebkit got deprecated/removed.
