Sentry Crash Report:

Description Blue Glacier 2013-02-14 20:53:33 UTC
The Connection to the ICQ network is not possible. After adding my ICQ account, entering my password and clicking on "OK", Telepathy immediately (even without just one second delay) says: "xxxxxxxxx cannot be connected. Authentication failed. Have you entered the right password?" My password is right, because it is working in pidgin.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open Preferences
2. Add an ICQ Account
3. Type in your login data and make sure "Connect when wizard is finished" is active
4. Click "Done"
Actual Results:
Telepathy won't connect. Says that the authentication failed just directly after clicking "Done".

Expected Results:
Should have connected my ICQ account.

Even if my login data was false (and as I mentioned, they are right), I woult expect Telepathy to try a connection to the ICQ server, whicht normally takes about 1-2 seconds before an error message would appear. But the delay is not there, so I believe that Telepathy is not even trying to connect to the ICQ server.

Thanks for the report. Can you check if you have ktp-auth-handler installed? And if yes, can you run

ktp-auth-handler --persist --debug

and try connecting again and post the output afterwards?

Thanks.

Also, you might want to look for ktp-auth-handler executable, it should be at /usr/lib/kde4/libexec/ktp-auth-handler

I don't know what I did - suddenly it is working - with the password that was still saved.
