- What I was doing when the application crashed:
I need a wireless HotSpot to have acces from my android cellphone -> wifi -> Linux MINT -> LAN. So I was setting up a wireless connection with the help of "NetworkManager. I selected in the wireless section "connect automatically", "system connection", filled in a SSID, selected "Ad Hoc" mode, "automatical selection of frequency range" with interface "wlan0". The other fields are remaining as it was done by the defaults.
In the tab "wireless security" I selected "WEP", selected the type "hex or ASCII" and filled in my key. Also here the remaining fields are left in the default state. In the tab IPv4-adress I tried to put in the basic settings with a static IP adress 192.168.0.1/255.255.255.0. The gateway field I filled with the adress of the DSL-router 192.168.2.1.

The used Hardware is an intel 3945ABG chipset within an Acer TravelMate 6460 Notebook.

Additionally installed related packages: dhcp3-server and hostapd (but still under construction).

Reason: internet research - no help in NetworkManager found - tried to follow the instructions in http://exain.wordpress.com/2011/03/31/making-a-wifi-hotspot-access-point-using-linux-wifi-lan-cardusb-adapter/
Still WiFI HotSpot is not working.
