using KDE 4.9.95
If having used the "New session" functionality such that there is a session on both F7 and F8, after F8 has logged off when F7 chooses shut down the system hangs and waits for F8 which seems to block the shutdown.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. K-menu -> Leave -> switch user -> new session
2. Sign in and log out.
3. Go to F7 and after having authenticated yourself: k-menu -> leave ->shutdown
Actual Results:  
F7 closes down and displays some startup-log.
Nothing more, the system hangs here.
If you go to F8 you can see that it is fully functional.

Expected Results:  
As long as no user sessions are present it should not block the system from shutdown.

I can confirm this bug happens some of the time.

If two user sessions are present when shutting down things seem to get confused. Most of the time shutdown proceeds normally when logging out of F8 first, then initiating the shutdown on F7.

I can also confirm this bug (sometimes).

Also sometimes the akonadi database gets corrupted because of this bug (maybe because of a "shutdown -h now")

We no longer use lightDM, having moved to SDDM several years ago. As such, this bug report is no longer applicable. Bugs reports for the new SDDM-based login screen should be filed to one of two places:

1. Visual/UI bugs with the login screen UI itself, or feature requests: plasmashell | Theme - Breeze
2. Bugs with the login/user switching process: https://github.com/sddm/sddm/issues
