When kmix is opened(restored) it only shows 1½ tabs. Thus you cannot see "Capture devices", "playback streams" and "Capture Streams".
It's probably because the window is sized to fit my 1 playback device. It should be possible to see the other tabs. 
Using KDE 4.9.4.
Btw. It's always looked like this, it just isn't very helpful/nice to use that you have to resize the window each time.
