Description stakanov.s 2012-12-16 22:06:33 UTC
When going to "account" - "sending" - and you setup the following provider:
freenet and tell the programm to sense in automatic the right protocol, it fails to do so. It proposes with port 587 to use SSL while the right protocol (and the unique working) is TLS.
The password is correctly sensed to CRAM-MD5.

Repeatable: always (for freenet.de provider - pop account - smtp settings.

Expected behavior: program should sense the right protocol for smtp.

If one does the setting by hand, everything works. (May be a problem of the server side but precedent kmail Versions sensed correctly. This one claims SSL and then complains negotiation fails.

This bug has only been reported for versions before 4.14, which have been unsupported for at least two years now. Can anyone tell if this bug still present?

If noone confirms this bug for a Framework-based version of kdepim (version 5.0 or later, as part of KDE Applications 15.08 or later), it gets closed in about three months.

Just as announced in my last comment, I close this bug. If you encounter it again in a recent version (at least 5.0 aka 15.08), please open a new one unless it already exists. Thank you for all your input.
