I was working with a freshly installed Kate for 6-8 hours yesterday with no problems. I started having the issues this afternoon, so I re-installed the KDE after cleanly uninstalling it, but I am still getting the same error.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open Kate
2. Choose Session
3. Start typing
4. Crash after 5-10 seconds
Actual Results:
Kate completely crashed.

Expected Results:
I should have been able to continue working.

I assume that this is a problem with a missing binary or something. Re-installing Kate and KDE did not fix this issue.

I think I've narrowed the crash to happening right when I type >

This is obviously a big hindrance when working on websites.

Without a backtrace, we cannot do anything about it, especially since all the Kate developers use Linux.
