I can't reproduce it. It's all the time (default) even if I have just 1 identity. Don't know how you added it at the beginning. by default it create a item in .kde/share/config/emailidentities "[General] Default Identity=1031013049" So don't know how you can reproduce this bug Hmm, I'm gonna try reproducing this on a new install.
