Description Adrián Chaves (Gallaecio) 2012-11-25 00:38:23 UTC
When I get new messages in my Identi.ca account, and Choqok is minimized to the tray icon, I get a system notification with a “Show Choqok” (or a similar string) button.

When I press that button, most times nothing happens. Other times, the window is restored but in the background, so it is not visible right away, but I have to click on the task manager to get to it.

In any case, I would expect that button to behave like right-clicking on the tray icon and pressing “Restore”, and that seems to never happen.

I hope you can reproduce it. I’ve not yet come up with a series of fixed steps, although it’s been happening for a long time.

Reproducible: Always
Comment 1 Adrián Chaves (Gallaecio) 2012-11-25 00:53:51 UTC
Ok, I can reproduce it:

1. Open Choqok (as said, I’m using an Identi.ca account). You should have at least another window (e.g. the web browser) open.
2. Go to “More → Search…”. A dialog to enter a search term will open.
3. Without actually entering a search term, hit Enter (or click Search) and press Ctrl+Tab to change the focus to a second window (one other than Choqok’s) before the search results are loaded.
4. You will get a notification about the new messages. Click the “Show Choqok” button in the notification.

Expected results: The Choqok window regains the focus, getting over the current window.
Actual results: In the task bar (where you have the list of open windows), the entry for the Choqok window is highlighted (like when you get a message in a KDE Telepathy conversation window that is hidden), but does not get the focus.

Alternative steps to reproduce:

…
3. Without actually entering a search term, hit Enter (or click Search) and press Alt+F4 to get Choqok minimized to the tray, AND click on another window; all before the search results are loaded.
4. You will get a notification about the new messages. Click the “Show Choqok” button in the notification.

Note: If you minimize to the tray and don’t perform further interaction with the desktop or other windows, it works as expected when clicking “Show Choqok”.

Thank you for the bug report.

As this report hasn't seen any changes in 5 years or more, we ask if you can please confirm that the issue still persists.

If this bug is no longer persisting or relevant please change the status to resolved.

Choqok is unfortunately no longer maintained.

If a new maintainer wants to step up and take care, the project is archived here:

https://invent.kde.org/network/choqok

You can just clone it in your private namespace on invent.kde.org and if you have started to work on it and fixed/implemented something get it reviewed and the project unarchived.

Sorry for the inconveniences.
