Canon camera use PTP driver from GPhoto2. Sound like a dysfunctiopn from this lib. try to update gohoto2 and update digiKam to last 2.9.0... Unfortunately, in Kubuntu 12.10, digikam uses a version of photo2, where this doesn't work. So I had to recompile all packages necessary by hand. Who does I contact, so that someone else (i.a. the maintainer of digikam in ubuntu) creates this package for kubuntu 12.10?
