Is there anything I can provide to help diagnose the problem? This is a horrible user experience as it stands. I find that if I close kontact and restart it, only the "New Message" button shows up. When I close its again, a "Mail - Kontact is not responding." dialogue shows up. Killing it again and again eventually causes something to get freed up and Kontact sort of works as you would expect. So, to me this sounds a lot like a synchronization issue. I also have some Coverity scan reports that show lots of different problems. If someone from KDE wants to see them, email me. Would be happy to share if it helps. "some Coverity scan reports that show lots of different problems" if you can send me them I can try to fix some bugs/problems. This bug has only been reported for versions before 4.14, which have been unsupported for at least two years now. Can anyone tell if this bug still present? If noone confirms this bug for a Framework-based version of kdepim (version 5.0 or later, as part of KDE Applications 15.08 or later), it gets closed in about three months. Just as announced in my last comment, I close this bug. If you encounter it again in a recent version (at least 5.0 aka 15.08), please open a new one unless it already exists. Thank you for all your input. This problem still exists. Its takes about 45 minutes from start up until kontact is usable. kontact-16.08.3-2.fc24.x86_64, kdepim-16.08.3-2.fc24.x86_64. |
