Description Aaron Peterson 2012-10-30 12:12:20 UTC
Hi, I just wanted to add my Documents folder to my places section.

Well, I did that, then I tried to drag it to the top of the list, and it ended up on the trash.
I didn't know, or even suspect that this attempt to relocate tiles would cause the deletion of all of my documents.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Create a places you don't care about.
2. Even have the panels be locked.
3.Drag that panel up to try to rearrange it
Actual Results:
Oops, that folder is now moved into the other places.

Expected Results:
tiles rearrange

KDE doesn't even trust us with dragging files without first asking us if we want to move or copy them..

Then it does does the worst possible outcome for something that doesn't even represent a file!

This is critical, because of the folders people will likely put into a Places folder, and how easy it is to accidentally move something.

Are you sure you did not move the icons on the trashcan, instead of between items? There is hover feedback, so you can see if you move onto or between items.

Can't reproduce it using KDE SC 4.10.1, either. When I drag a folder onto some existing place, there is a popup menu shown asking me what to do: copy, move, link or cancel.

@Aaron, since you can reproduce it every time, would you please record a short screencast to demonstrate the problem ?
