- What I was doing when the application crashed:This has been weird. I turned on my laptop, and start process stoped at "checking system V" or something similar. Shuted it down from its shutdown button. Turned it on again, with the same results. I was able to access terminal 1 through Crtl+Alt+1, and started X Server with startx. KDE started 0K, but there were 2 Dr Konqi windows saying that KWin had crased.
I apology if this bug is NVidia's fault and this bug is already closed, but I can't even be sure about it. 

Card = NVidia 8200GM, driver version = 295.40.

perfect dupe and to quote myself:
"do NOT use that particular driver version - seriously.
not necessarily causes this bug, but do NOT use it anyway. not even if you've a newer GPU. don't."

addendum:
especially not on your kind of GPU. the driver is broken to harmful and has been withdrawn by nvidia.

0K, thank you very much for this information. I could not even suspect that Canonical release a LTS with a broken driver :-/. I think I can add a swat PPA or something.
