What is the problem exactly? For the record, after I browsed a directory of 4320*3240 photos, gwenview did not crash or anything. I am on Mageia Linux 3/Cauldron on x86-64. Does it hapen in a new UNIX user account? Can you give a better recipe for reproduction (with photos that we can download from the Internet)? Am 18.10.2012 15:15, schrieb Shlomi Fish:

in quick:
As a user and "non-programmer" I can not telle you exactly what problem
is appearing here.
But, as much as I remember, the bug report had three stars, so quality
is good enough to analyse failure causes quite well.
I had NIKON D3100 digital camera before with 4.608 x 3.072 according
14,2 MB pic size. Browsing speed is (still) acceptable.
Now, every pic has ~50 MB (NEF-raw) and 20-35 MP (jpg) (therefore it
becomes more difficult/complicated to send samples...)... and the
machine is going to sleep... response time is slowing down...
It is on an old user account - on two machines under (K)Ubuntu 12.04.
About browing- there is nothing special at all. I have
- KDE 4.92
- Linux 3.2.0.-30-generic
- AMD A8-3870 APU with Radeon(tm) HF Graphics, 3300 MHz (Quadcore)
- 8 GB RAM

Additional short info: Similar crashes when closing down occured several times with digiKam 2.8 Hi Axel, (In reply to comment #2) > Am 18.10.2012 15:15, schrieb Shlomi Fish: > > https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=308460 > > > > Shlomi Fish <shlomif@shlomifish.org> changed: > > > > What |Removed |Added > > ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- > > CC| |shlomif@shlomifish.org > > > > --- Comment #1 from Shlomi Fish <shlomif@shlomifish.org> --- > >> After browsing some pics (36 Mio pixels) and closing gwenview, Gwenview does not close regularly, but crashes!! > > > >> Loading and reaction time of single pics are very slow, nearly not practical any more... slideshow looks paralyzed > to homeopathic "creeping speeds". > > > > What is the problem exactly? Browsing speed is (still) acceptable. Do you mean 4 thousand times 3 thousand pixels? > > Now, every pic has ~50 MB (NEF-raw) and 20-35 MP (jpg) (therefore it > becomes more difficult/complicated to send samples...)... and the > machine is going to sleep... response time is slowing down... > I don't understand. You're using too many ellipses ("…") and make far improper use of punctuation. Anyway, we should be able to find samples of such photos online somewhere, so we can download them and reproduce them, but you'll have to see that you reproduce the crash first. > It is on an old user account - on two machines under (K)Ubuntu 12.04. OK, I got it. But I asked: can you reproduce this problem in a completley new UNIX user account? If not, then it may have something to do with the local configuration. Please try to reproduce the same problem in a new UNIX user account. It's standard procedure. > About browing- there is nothing special at all.
