I had a similar problem after installing my HP Officejet Pro 8000 on Netrunner 12.12 After installing the printer, I found it wouldn't print but I solved it very easily by doing the following: After going into "System Settings -> Printers", I noticed it said "Paused - 'Paused'" underneath the printer name. I clicked the "Open Print Queue" button and then clicked the "Resume Printer" button. After closing the "Open Print Queue" dialogue, it now says "Idle" underneath the printer name and the printer now prints OK. I've no idea why the printer is paused by default and, IMO, it shouldn't be. "system-config-printer-kde" is no longer maintained and has been replaced with "Print Manager" since KDE 4.10. The new version is a C++ rewrite of the old Python version, and may still lack some features or have some bugs. If this or another issue still needs to be addressed in KDE 4.10 or newer, please add a comment, or report it for "Print Manager". |
